Mission Statement

The mission of the early childhood education program is to prepare students to work with children from birth through age eight in a variety of settings. Students will develop a thorough understanding of child development, the value of play in children's learning, and how to develop appropriate classroom practices. Students will also learn to advocate for ethical practices in the field of early childhood education. Upon successful completion of this program, you will be awarded an associate of applied science degree.

Core Outcomes

The program aims to achieve some of the following outcomes:

  • Composition: demonstrate college-level writing, research, documentation, and critical-thinking skills
  • Mathematics: use quantitative information to systematically arrive at reasoned decisions and solve everyday problems
  • Social Science: demonstrate the ability to understand and critically evaluate the social or psychological issues that impact human behavior
  • Humanities: critically evaluate human experience as expressed through literary, artistic, religious, philosophical, or other cultural achievements
